The Yellows return to the battles in Winner's league without Giannis Sfairopoulos and his assistant Vassilis Geragotelis that tested positive for Covid-19

After the Euroleague win over Alba Berlin, Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv will return to the battles on the domestic front. The Yellows will host Hapoel Holon on Saturday at Menora Mivtachim Arena (20:00 local, 1 pm ET) when facing unusual circumstances.

Maccabi’s coach Giannis Sfairopoulos and his assistant Vassilis Geragotelis have tested positive for Covid-19 and won’t manage the game from the bench. The two other assistant coaches, Doron Perkins and Noam Levi will coach the Israeli champs in their absence.

Derrick Williams, James Nunnally, and Khyri Thomas were left out of the roster. The twelve players in the squad will be John DiBartolomeo, Scottie Wilbekin, Keenan Evans, Ido Menchel, Angelo Caloiaro, Jalen Reynolds, Roman Sorkin, Oded Brandwein, Oz Blayzer, Jake Cohen, Ante Zizic, and Yiftach Ziv.

Without Giannis Sfairopoulos and two of his assistances that tested positive with Covid-19 and without Ante Zizic, that felt bad a few hours before the game, Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv managed to get an important league win.

The Yellows edged past Hapoel Holon 80:79 at Menora Mivtachim Arena in a close game that was decided in its final seconds. The momentum switched sides many times until two made free-throws by Scottie Wilbekin decided the outcome.

Keenan Evans led Maccabi’s scorers with 21 points, a reason for optimism ahead of a week in which the Yellows will play twice in the Euroleague: against Zalgiris and Bayern Munich.
