On Sunday: Maccabi looks to extend winning streak in Holon

After the victory in Villeurbanne on Thursday, the Yellows want to win for the 8th time in a row. Brown and Baldwin will play

Maccabi Playtika Tell Aviv wants to make it eight. After triumphing in Villeurbanne on Thursday, and only 48 hours before hosting Virtus Bologna, the Yellows will face Hapoel Holon away tomorrow (6.30 pm Israel time), hoping to extend their winning streak to eight.

A victory would secure Oded Kattash’s players the first place in Winner’s league table before the start of the last round of games in the regular season. Maccabi thrashed Guy Goodes’s team 98:78 in the first round and holds a superior record to the current league champions. That, of course, doesn’t promise the Yellows anything, as Holon is traditionally tough to play against on the road.

The visitors roster for the game will include John DiBartolomeo, Lorenzo Brown, Wade Baldwin, Jarell Martin, Rafi Menco, Roman Sorkin, Guy Pnini, Jake Cohen, Tomer Agmon, Josh Nebo, Yiftach Ziv, and Bonzie Colson.

Maccabi dominates in Holon, extends winning streak to eight

The Yellows defeated Winner's league champions 84:74 and set a new club record of 25 offensive rebounds. Sorkin scored 15. On Tuesday: Maccabi hosts Bologna

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv is currently on a roll. The Yellows achieved an eighth win in a row, 84:74, over Winner’s league current title holders, Hapoel Holon, and secured themselves the top of the table going into the third round.

Oded Kattash’s players dominated the game from the beginning, playing good defense and moving the ball well on the other side of the court. Roman Sorkin led the team in scoring with 15 points and contributed eight rebounds. Maccabi recorded a total of 53 rebounds, 25 of which were offensive boards, in a record-breaking evening.

While more battles await in the Winner’s league, Maccabi’s focus will now shift to the Euroleague. Maccabi will play two Italian opponents within 48 hours, Virtus Bologna on Tuesday and Milano on Thursday. Ending the week with two wins will extend the winning streak to ten and most likely secure the Yellows a playoff ticket.
