Maccabi thrashes Eilat at home, 109:57

The Yellows got their fifth consecutive win in an outstanding fashion, with 37 team assists and another great defensive display. Martin led the way with 19 points

The numbers behind Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s performance against Hapoel Eilat probably tell the whole story of Oded Kattash’s team current form. The Yellows got their fifth victory in a row today (Sunday) – a crushing 109:57 over the Southerns –  with 37 team assists and the biggest margin of victory in the league since 2005.

In a game that was all yellow from beginning to end, Maccabi not just bolstered its hold at the top of Winner’s league table but did it while showing again that its defense is gradually turning into a real strength. Jarell Martin scored 19 points for the hosts, and Guy Pnini had 10 assists but above all, it was a team effort.

As always, a breather is not an option for Maccabi’s players and staff. On Tuesday the Yellows will face Hapoel Haifa, and on Friday they’re in for a European classic showdown against Real Madrid. Stay tuned.
