The "Yellows" opened their season with their right foot with a first title after beating Naharya 93-79 in the finals. Tyus and Tomas stood out, John-Di was named tournament MVP

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv finished its preseason in the best possible way. Coach Spahija's squad won convincingly 93-79 against Irony Naharya to win its seventh Winner Cup in the club's history. DeShaun Thomas finished the game as the leading scorer with 20 points, Tyus added 18P & 12R. DiBartolomeo named tournament's MVP.
Maccabi's starting five: John-Di, Roll, Mashour, Bolden & Parakhouski. Both teams opened the game rather hesitantly with the scoreboard showing 3-2 in favour of Maccabi two and a half minutes into the game. Naharya made back to back threes to get a 9-4 lead five minutes into the game. Zoosman, Thomas and Bolden scored to put Maccabi ahead 12-11, Naharya reacted but Thomas and Tyus finished the first quarter strong and with a seven-point lead 22-15.

Maccabi's shooting clinic continued into the second quarter with Zoosman making two big three-pointers to set a double-digit lead 36-25 that made Coach Alfasi (Naharya) call for a timeout. The "Purples" came back focused as they took down the lead to seven points 37-30 making coach Spahija taking a timeout from which John-Di came big with two three-pointers and a 49-36 lead athalf time.

The second half started with Naharya being the first to score taking the lead down two minutes in the third quarter 51-41. Bolden took control on both ends of the court and alongside with Roll made it a 63-43 game five minutes in the third. Roll and Thomas continued their great ability but it was Naharya who had the final say of the quarter as the scoreboard showed 73-57 to Maccabi.

Alex Tyus opened the fourth quarter strong, but Naharya refused to throw in the towel as Livingston and Young brought have started a comeback to bring the "Purples" back into the game (80-72), however from that moment on Alex Tyus took control over the game and with two good offensive possessions Maccabi were up again by a double-digit lead, that this time proved to be too much for Naharya, and after 40 minutes Maccabi wins its first title of the season with 93-79 over Naharya.
