Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv lost a thriller 90:92 against Hapoel Jerusalem and got eliminated in the Quarter-Finals of the 2020 State Cup. Scottie Wilbekin put the team on his back, scoring 22 points. On Thursday, the Yellow & Blue get back to EuroLeague action as they'll face Villeurbanne.

Scottie Wilbekin, Nate Wolters, Deni Avdija, Quincy Acy, and Othello Hunter opened in Giannis Sfairopoulos's starting five. Nate Wolters began the game with 5 straight points, and Wilbekin with a transition three gave the Yellow & Blue an 8:2 lead. On the other end, Trent Lockett kept Jerusalem in it scoring 8 of their 10 first points, 14:10 Maccabi. The score stayed tight throughout the quarter, as both teams exchanged leads, but Jake Cohen had the final say scoring from inside to give the hosts a 24:22 edge.

The visitors opened the second quarter with 5 straight points, Suleiman Braimoh put the reds on top by three points. After three minutes, Wolters scored Maccabi's first points of the quarter, and that opened a path for two straight three's by Cohen and Tyler Dorsey to put Maccabi back on top, 32:30. The reds went on a 10:2 run with good minutes by J'Covan Brown and TaShawn Thomas, but once again, Wolters, with the help of Hunter, cut down the visitors lead to 1. In the final two minutes of the half, Brown and Braimoh gave the reds a 6 point lead, 49:43.

With the start of the second half, Bar Timor gave Jerusalem an 8 point lead. However, Quincy Acy and Scottie Wilbekin turned the score around 55:54 for the hosts. Wilbekin put Maccabi on his back, scoring 12 points in the third quarter to give them a 2 point advantage, 62:60. The captain John DiBartolomeo finished at the rim to close out the third quarter, 66:64 Maccabi going into the final period.

Wolters found Cohen for a beautiful three-point play to put the Yellow & Blue on top by 1. Tamir Blatt (three) and a Braimoh layup made coach Sfairopoulos call a timeout 7:30 minutes to the final whistle, 69:73. Jerusalem kept the four-point advantage with a shot from behind the arc from Lockett, John DiBartolomeo, with a crucial steal cut the lead by half, 76:78. After a red three by Brown, Scottie found Hunter on a beautiful alley-oop pass, that slammed it down, 78:81. Thomas, with a two-point layup, gave the visitors a 6 point lead 1:30 minutes to go. Maccabi scored four straight points from the line to minimize Jerusalem's edge to two. 

With 48 seconds left, Wilbekin hit a three while Hunter was fouled for a five-point play to give the hosts an 88:87 advantage. Brown responded with a three-pointer of his own to turn it around, 88:90. With 12 seconds left, Hunter grabbed an offensive rebound and from under the basket, tied the game up at 90. Brown took control of the final possession, drove to the basket and was fouled, he hit one of two from the line that gave Maccabi a chance with 3 seconds left, but Acy's pass couldn't find a target. James Feldeine hit one of two from the line for the final score, 92:90 Jerusalem.
