On the sixth day of the Super League last season, Maccabi Rishon Letsion came to the NOKIA Arena and shocked Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv. This evening, on the third day of the 2005/06 season, this was a different story. The champions did not give a chance to Guy Goodes team and won 100-85.
The visitors led only once, 19-18 and then Maccabi went on a 10-0 run ti end the first quarter 28-19 up. At half time the score was 50-38.
There were some anxious moments when Maceo Baston landed badly & limped out with great pain. But he returned three minutes later and helped his team take a 79-54 lead at the end of the third period. Finally Maccabi won by 15 points.
Maccabi made 33 assists to Rishon`s 15 but the visitors had a 40-33 lead in rebounds. Maccabi players had 12 three pointers to Rishon`s three.
A superb game for Tal Bursrein with 17 pts in 75% FG, 6 rbds, 8 ass & 3 stls. Nikola Vujcic was again in fine form with 20 pts in 100% FG, 6 ass & 4 rbds. Sharon Shason played 17 minutes, made 4-4 in three pointers, dished out 3 assists & pulled down 2 rbds.
