To celebrate both Good Deeds Day (11 March 2014) and the upcoming Purim holiday, Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv spent the morning visiting the children hospitalized at Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba. The players distributed gift bags provided by the basketball club and the PMI Company to the children. They also posed for pictures, and handed out posters and autographs. A representative from the Domino’s Pizza company, one of the sponsors of the team, handed out vouchers for meals.
Head coach David Blatt said of the visit, “As the season progresses, the pressure intensifies, and each game becomes more important. That can cause you to blow things out of proportion, and to forget things that are a lot more important. A visit like this reminds us of what is truly important, and gives us some breathing room as we give of ourselves and feel the warmth of the love people have for us because of who we are, and not because of what we do on the basketball court. These visits are more important than anything else we do.”
Captain Guy Pnini added, “This is a very important visit for us to make in the middle of our busy game schedule. It’s so important to us to come and do what we can to make these kids happy. It gives us strength. It’s the little things that are most important to us. One more victory or one fewer victory is less important. All of the things we do together touch our hearts. It’s also important for the foreign players to see things that they might not be used to seeing with other teams; it adds something special, and is important.”
