The 2005/06 season will come tomorrow to its end with Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv playing Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem in the final game of the Final Four. The winner will be crowned as Super League Champions and Maccabi hopes to do so for the 46th time and 13th in a row. Jerusalem is looking for its first championship.
For Maccabi it will be its 75th game of the season (35 in the Super League, 5 Cup, 25 Euroleague & 10 friendlies). It will be the firth meeting between the teams this season, Maccabi winning the four previous ones (3 in the league and 1 in the Cup Final).
The coaches and players from Jerusalem have predicted in the last week that they will end Maccabi domination at the NOKIA Arena where Jerusalem has not won since the 1997 Cup Final. Coach Erez Edelstein has a very talented team and a deep bench, but Maccabi has proved their superiority and their experience in Finals could be decisive.
For the first time in Israel the players of the winning team will be awarded with championship rings like in the NBA. For coach Pini Gershon it could be his last game if he will keep his words and announce his retirement.
