Israel National Team opened their campaign in Group B of the 2007 Eurobasket qualifiers with an 88-81 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina. The game was played ion Sofia as FIBA refused to allow Israel to play their games in Tel Aviv.
The Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv forward Jamie Arnold, in his first official game in the Israeli colors, scored 21 pts in 53% FG (3-5 for three), pulled dowm 6 rbds, sidhed out 3 assists & made one steal. Hapoel Jeusalem’s guard Dror Hagag added 18 pts & 3 assists.
Other Maccabi players on the team: Yaniv Green 10 pts, 2 bsts, Yotam Halperin 8 pts, 6 asts, 5 rbds, 1 stl, Sharon Shason 4 pts & 1 rebound.
Israel’s next game will be played on Sunday in Skopje vs FYR of Macedonia who were beaten 90-108 by Portugal.
