Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv's tight three-game schedule opened with a bang on Wednesday night as Giannis Sfairopoulos's squad hammered Maccabi Haifa 95:60. With the home victory, the Yellow & Blue improve their record to 8:2 as their next contest is within less than 48 hours against Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

The Yellow & Blue got it going right out of the gate, hitting six threes while allowing only 13 points first-quarter, opening a 22 point edge after 10 minutes. The commanding lead stood at 43 late in the fourth quarter as all 11 Maccabi players contributed tonight, each playing over 10 minutes and scoring at least 5 points.

Angelo Caloiaro led the scorers with 13 points, Oz Blayzer added 12 points and 4 rebounds, as Dragan Bender contributed 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Dori Sahar had an excellent performance, scoring 11 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in 20 minutes of play.



"We started very well, and we marked the way we want to play on both ends of the court throughout all 40 minutes", Said head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the win. "I'm very happy I had a chance to use my young guys for many minutes as they all responded really well. They have to continue and be ready when the team needs them".

"If you want to build your winning mentality, you always need to be ready no matter the score, even when you are losing by 30 points", Related Sfairopoulos on pushing the team even if winning by high margins. "The team needs to play in the right way, learn to play like that, and from these games, you build that mentality". 

"It's always exciting to be here, but with the special group of guys we have in the locker room, each night, someone else will stand here", Said Dori Sahar after he was chosen as the player of the game. "The second, I was called up from the youth department, and also back in my early teen years, the whole system enveloped me, and for that, we've been working as hard as possible every single morning. I believe that with hard work, you can fulfill any goal".
