Doron Perkins wore Maccabi's uniform for the first time in the summer of 2009 after moving to Tel Aviv from Maccabi Haifa. Twelve years later, in the summer of 2021, he returned to the Yellows as assistant coach of Giannis Sfairopoulos. A position he still holds today, under Oded Kattash.
Before coming back to Maccabi, the former guard was on the training staff of the Brooklyn Nets. He worked in the scouting and player development department and trained Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving personally in their return from injuries.
Perkins also coached Brooklyn in the summer league in Las Vegas, where he lives, and earlier coached the club's G-League team - Long Island Nets.
As a player, Perkins is considered one of the best point guards who played in Israel, well-known for his athletic ability and defensive skills. In 2010/2011 season, he was a vital part of a great Maccabi team that won the state championship and lost the Euroleague final to Panathinaikos.
After leaving Maccabi, he also played in Italy, Ukraine, and Greece before starting his coaching career in 2017.
