Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv opened the New Year with a loss, 80-85 in Zagreb vs Cibona.
The Croats exploited Maccabi’s “soft” defence to lead 28-17 at the end of the first quarter and 56-43 at half time. The third period was Maccabi’s best (21-14) and the lead was cut to 6 pts only. But low precentage shooting by Maccabi players in the final quarter enabled the home team to win by five.
Nikola Vujcic was Maccabi’s top performer with 23 pts & 7 rbds.
