The Israel national team ended the European Championship in Stockholm in 7th place. This after a 89-82 win over Russia. This is Israel’s best ranking since 1983 when they finidhed in 65th place.
It was an even game but in the final quarter, Israel opened a 12 points lead and kept it until the end. Best player was Meir Tapiro with 26 pts, 3 assists, 3 steals & 3 rbds. An excellent game also for Yaniv Green with 21 pts & 7 rbds.
The best of the Maccabi TA players was Tal Burstein with 19 pts, 4 rbds & 4 assists. Gur Shelef scored 10 pts, Yotam Halperin had 4 pts & 4 rbds, Derrick Sharp did not score & the injured Saffar did not play. Burstein scored 80 pts in 7 games, Saffar 48 pts in 5 games, Sharp 43 in 7 games, Halperin 36 pts in 7 games & Gur Shelef 30 pts in 7 Games.
