The Top 16 Draw of the Euroleague, will be held tomorrow , Monday 23/02/04 at 14:00 (Israel time) in Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. The 16 teams will be drawn into four groups of fours teams each.
The teams will be devided into four levels according to their ranking in the Regular Season. Maccabi TA belongs to Level 1and so will avoid facing the other group leaders FC Barcelona, CSKA Moscow & Efes Pilsen Istanbul.
Level 2: Benetton Treviso, Cibona Zagreb, Pamesa Valencia, Skipper Bologna.
Level 3: Ulker Istanbul, TAU Ceramica Vitoria, Montepaschi Siena, Olimpija Ljubljana.
Level 4: Panathinaikos Athens, Olynpiacos Piraeus, Pau-Orthez, Zalgiris Kaunas.
There are two major restrictions for the draw: No more that two teams from the same RS Group, will be drawn in the same Top 16 Group. Also no more than two teams from the same country. The first playing day will be on March 3 and 4.
The four group winners will go through to the Final Four in the NOKIA Arena in Tel Aviv on April 29 & May 01, 2004.
