Shimon Mizrahi, chairman of Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club since 1969, will be one of 12 beacon lighters in the official ceremony of the Independence Day celebrations. This was decided today by a special committee. In his 34 years in charge, Maccabi won three European Cups, 33 League Championships & 25 National Cups.
Maccabi Tel Aviv will have two other representatives in the ceremony: Ralph Klein who played and coached the team for many years & led them to their first European Cup in 1977 and Tal Brody, who captained the team on that occasion.
