The countdown approaches its limit when Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv will play tomorrow (21:40, NOKIA Arena) in the semi final of the Euroleague Final Four vs CSKA Moscow. It will be Maccabi’s 8th appearance in the Final Four since this system started in 1988. and it will equal Barcelona’s record.
The teams held practice sessions this evening which completed a long day which started at the official Press Conference held at the Tel Aviv Museum of Arts. The four Final Four coaches an a player from each team represented the teams. The Maccabi delegates were coach Pini Gershon & captain Gur Shelef.
This will be the 21st game between Maccabi & CSKA with the Yellows winning on 11 occasions. The teams met at the semi final in Paris 2001 with Maccabi winning 86-80 before beating Panathinaikos in the Final. CSKA won twice in Tel Aviv: 78-77 in the 1996/97 season and 87-84 this season.
The first semi final (19:10) will be an all Italian affair between Montepaschi Siena & Skipper Bologna.
Tomorrow will also see the start of the Kamkabel Junior International Tournament at the Hadar Yosef National Sports Center. Maccabi Tel Aviv will play Montepachi Siena at 12:45.
