Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius is European Player of the Year according to a poll run by Eurobasket.
Saras has also been elected in the All-Europe 1st Team, the All Europeans 1st Team (including NBA players) and as the European Point Guard of the Year. All these honors are due to the three titles he won with Maccabi (Euroleague, Premier League & National Cup) as well as the fourth place with Lithuania in the Olympic Games in Athens.
Anthony Parker was also elected into the All-Europe 1st Team together with Deaja Bodiroga, Arvydas Sabonis & Arvydas Macjauskas. Alongside Saras in the All-Europeans 1st Team are: Predrag Stojakovic (Sacramento), Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas), Pau Gasol (Memphis) and Tony Parker (San Antonio).
Nikola Vujcic & Maceo Baston are included in the All-Europe 2nd Team. Vujcic was also elected as the All-Europe Power Forward of the Year. Pini Gershon was candidate for the European Coach of the Year award but the honor went to Carlo Recalcati who led Italy to the silver medal in Athens as well as winning the Italian Championship and a place in the Euroleague Final Four with Montepaschi Siena.
