After the loss of Lietuvos Rytas in Piraeus last night, a win for Maccabi will give them first place in Group B.
Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv will tonight (NOKIA Arena, 20:40) start a series of four games to establish the final standings in Group B of the Euroleague Regular Season. Maccabi will play Efes Pilsen Istanbul with both teams on a 7-3 record. The third team at the top, Lietuvos Rytas, lost last night 63-65 in Piraeus vs Olympiacos and is now on 7-4. On November 24 in Istanbul, Maccabi lost 88-90 to Efes Pilsen who holds a 9-5 record vs Maccabi in European competitions. Furthermore – the Turks won three of the last four games in Tel Aviv, including 78-76 on their last visit on February 2002. In the loss in Istanbul, Maceo Baston led Maccabi with 29 pts & 9 rbds. Will Solomon, playing against the team he played for last season, scored 28 pts. Top scorers for Efes Pilsen were Marco Popovic 21 & Henry Domercant 19 pts. In another game in group B, Armani Jeans Milano beat Cibona Zagreb 84-64.
