Pini Gershon will be officially presented this evening as head coach of Olympiacos Piraeus. This brings to an end the 54 years old Gershon’s reign with Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv which started in November 1998 and included a break of two seasons. In six seasons he led Maccabi to Five European Final Fours and won the trophy three times (2001, 2004, 2005). He also won six Super League championships and six national cups. Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv player Yotam Halperin, was last night selected in the second round of the NBA Draft in 53rd place by Seattle Supersonics. Another Israeli player, Lior Eliyahu, was selected by Houston Rockets in 44th place.
