The 21 years old forward, who is the 44th pick of the NBA Draft, will wear yellow in the 2006/07 season
Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club is proud to announce that Lior Eliyahu have joined the team for the 2006/07 season. Eliyahu, born 09/09/85, was picked on Wednesday in 44th place in the NBA Draft by Houston Rockets but has decided to play at least one more season in Israel. The 2.05 m tall forward, started his career with Ironi Ramat Gan. In the last three seasons he played for Hapoel Galil Elyon. Last season he averaged 27 min, 15.9 pts & 5.9 rbds in the Super League. In the Europecup he averaged 32 min, 19.2 pts and 6.3 rbds. He played in the Europecup Allstar game and scored 10 pts. In 2004 he was a member of the Israeli team who were the finalists in the European u.20 championship in the Czech Republic. In 2005 he was the second top scorer (ave 18 pts) of the European u.20 championship in Russia and was selected to the Allstar team. Played also in the u.21 World Championship in Argentina. Now he is a memberof the Israel National Team.
