Maccabi guard Chuck Eidson was treated for an injury in the locker room after Thursday night’s 86 – 81 loss to Caja Laboral in Vitoria, Spain. Wisniewski: “We need to learn from our mistakes.”

“They’re a team of great shooters,” said Maccabi head coach Pini Gershon about opponents Caja Laboral after the game.
“We trapped the tall players and the paint was too open.”
Chuck Eidson was injured in the hand during the game and was treated by Maccabi’s medical staff after the final buzzer.
“Splitter scored a lot.
They were deadly from three point range, and that’s something we were worried about.
The big players scored more than the guards.
Two of their shooters didn’t score up to their average, and that helped us in the second half.”
“We got back into the game.
I trusted my players on defense,” Gershon said of Maccabi’s comeback in the second half.
“When they were tired, they guarded well.
In the second half we defended against them much better; in the first half we allowed too many points.”
“When Anderson wasn’t on the court, Eidson played better.
When Anderson drove to the inside, he didn’t use the block, and instead Caja scored two three-pointers,” said Gershon of Anderson, who fouled out of the game with a little over a minute remaining.
“Lampe played well, and so did Bluthenthal.
When we needed a scorer, Bluthenthal was on the court.”
“They’re a good team,” continued Gershon, “and we hope to become a better team.
The point spread can end up determining our ranking in the group.”
About the ability of Lior Eliyahu, former Maccabi star who now plays for Caja Laboral, Gershon said, “That’s Lior, and sometimes he’s just unstoppable.”
“It wasn’t enough.
I think we were good, but not good enough,” said David Bluthenthal, who came off the bench and scored 12 points (4 of 4 from three point range).
“We missed some rebounds.
It’s still early in the season, but we’re headed in the right direction.
I think we’re playing at a high level.
We played well in the second half and we can play even better.”
“We should have taken more rebounds, but we did a good job,” said Andrew Wisniewski, who scored 12 points.
“I think we played well and could have won the game.
We need to learn from this game and the mistakes we made.”
D’or Fischer added, “It was a tough game, we had some great three-pointers and we could have won.
In the second half we got back into the game.
Caja is a good team, and so are we.”
