Russian team Khimki Moscow, which did not lose a single game in the Euroleague qualifying rounds, has placed into the same group with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv following easy victories over Caserta, Budivelnik and French team Le Mans.
Sergio Scariolo, head coach of the Spanish national team and one of the most respected coaches on the continent, has put together one of the top-of-the-line teams in European basketball.
Keith Langford (1.93), who averaged 15.5 points per game in the Euroleague last season, leads Khimki again this season in the index and points.
Joining him in the backcourt are Raul Lopez (1.82) who played last season for Real Madrid, Zoran Planinic (1.99) formerly of CSKA Moscow, and Thomas Kelati (1.95) previously of Valencia.
When it comes to the big men, Khimki’s roster continues to impress.
Benjamin Eze (2.08) left Siena after six years with the club to join the Russian team.
Together with the imposing Aleksey Savrasenko (2.15), and Sergey Monya (2.02) who played last season for MBC Dynamo Moscow, they make for an outstanding frontcourt.
