Ahead of the start of the 2011 – 2012 season, Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv has released an updated team roster including the jersey number assignments. Jordan Farmar, who has come to Maccabi straight from the NBA, received #9, which has been worn by many Maccabi champions, most notably Miki Berkowitz and Gur Shelef.
After fifteen years, #6 has been assigned to a different player: Devin Smith, who was assigned that number on his previous team, will wear the number that graced the back of former team captain Derrick Sharp, who is now an assistant coach for the team. Theo Papaloukas was given the number most often associated with him, #4. Jon Scheyer will wear #14, and Milan Maćvan will switch to #13 for his second season with the team. New Israeli acquisition Yogev Ohayon will wear #12.
