Current Israeli Cup holders Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv will be taking part in the competition’s playoff stage this season, rather than qualifying immediately for the quarter-final. The draw for the games will take place on December 25th. And just to add a little spice – like last season, Maccabi faces the possibility of a game against their cross-town rivals from the second league, Hapoel Tel Aviv.
The other teams to take part in the draw will be the eight winners of the first round (which will take place on October 26th) and Elizur Ashkelon, Maccabi Ashdod, Hapoel Galil Elyon, Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Jerusalem, and Barak Netanya who automatically qualify owing to their participation last season in the Cup quarterfinals.
