Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s journey towards a place in the Euroleague playoffs continues. On Tuesday (21:00 Israel time, 2 pm ET), the Yellows will host Baskonia in a must-win game for them if they want to finish inside the top 8.

“Since Friday, we have been busy with only one thing: the game on Tuesday,” said Avi Even ahead of the meeting with the Basques and their ex Maccabi coach, Nevan Spahija. “We want every child in the Arena wearing a yellow shirt to feel proud.”

“We had a tough week,” added Ante Zizic when asked about the tough loss in Turkey last Thursday. “The game against Baskonia is our chance to rise and show our character. It’s a tough game, but I am sure that everyone will do their best to win”.

Maccabi rallies past Baskonia for a 94:93 win

Led by Nunnally and Zizic with 21 points each, the Yellows secured an important home victory and remained in the fight for a playoffs spot

With its back to the wall, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv fought hard, showed character, and secured a dramatic 94:93 win over Baskonia Vitoria at Menora Mivtachim Arena. With this victory, The Yellows improved to a 12:13  record in the Euroleague and remained in contention for a playoffs spot.

Maccabi entered the fourth quarter trailing by six points, but James Nunnally and Ante Zizic (21 points each) led the comeback and forced a tight ending. Scottie Wilbekin’s clutch three-pointer and a great yellow defensive possession in the last minute secured the win for the hosts.

On Sunday, the Israeli champions will return to the battles in Winner’s league and meet Maccabi Rishon-Lezion.
