The National Cup for the 7th time in a row

Five days after winning the Euroleague Cup, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv returned to the NOKIA Arena and won the National Cup for the 34th time beating Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem 1080-85.
After 26-12 for Maccabi at the end of the first quarter, Jerusalem came back to 31-31 mainly through Will Solomon. At the half Macabi had only a 44-38 lead but they opened the third period with a 16-5 run to lead 60-43. The biggest margin was 90-62 with seven minutes to go and finally a 23 pts win and the seventh cup win in a row. Captain Gur Shelef accomapied by Tal Burstein, received the Cup from State President Moshe Katsav.
Maccabi had 63% in Field Goals, 67% in three pointers (12-18) and 97% in FT (28-29). They also dominated the rebound 32-22.
Burstein was elected MVP with 22 pts in 68% FG and 100% in FT, 5 assists & 3 stls. Six of Maccabi players finished in double figures.
