Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv finished their Spanish double week with another loss, this time suffering a 82-92 defeat at the hands of Baskonia. After a solid first quarterl, the Basques took over the game and ran away with the win, which puts both teams at a 13-12 record.
It was a bad defensive performance by the yellows, who could not stop the short-handed locals throughout the evening. On offense, Maccabi received 25 points from Wade Baldwin, 19 of which in the first half, never developed an offensive flow.
“We were out of the game, you can’t win when you allow the opponent to score 80% of their shots”, lamented head coach Oded Kattash, “I would like to say it is something you learn from experience, but we do have enough experience in our team. If we want to do something this season, we cannot allow ourselves to look like that”.
Maccabi will have to recuperate in a hurry, because on Saturday evening they will be tested again with a road game against Hapoel Holon in the Israeli league.
