Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv proved today (Sunday) that it has moved on from losing in the state cup final. The Yellows overcame a tough opponent in Bnei Herzliya with a decisive 99:76 win and maintained their position at the top of Winner’s league table.
An even first quarter at Hayovel Gym was followed by a second quarter in which Oded Kattash’s team produced a run that practically put the game away. Without Lorenzo Brown and Josh Nebo, Jake Cohen stood out with 19 points. Bonzie Colson added 16.
This evening will be remembered for another reason. Aged 39, Guy Pnini made his 512 league appearance and became the all-time leader in Israeli league games played. He and his team will next face Bayern Munich on Thursday, hoping to make one more step toward the Euroleague playoffs.
