The Yellows defeated the European champions 80:72 thanks to an incredible 22:2 late run. Lorenzo Brown shined with 23 points in one of his team’s biggest victories this season
Despite an overwhelming start to the game, Oded Kattash’s team entered the last quarter trailing by 7 points (57:65), but 10 minutes of textbook defense and high-level offensive execution drove Maccabi to a luxurious win over the reigning champs.
It was a team effort, especially on the defensive side, but Lorenzo Brown was the Maccabi’s shining star this evening. The majority of the point guard’s 23 points came in crucial moments in the game and his composure kept the Yellows in the contest when they struggled.
With today’s victory, Maccabi holds a 9:7 record and sits strong in the contest for a top-8 spot. On Sunday and Tuesday accordingly, Kattash’s men will face Hapoel Eilat and Hapoel Haifa in Winner’s league before meeting Real Madrid in Spain (Thursday).
