Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv hoped to keep its Euroleague season alive, but the colossal fight the Yellows gave at Menora Mivtachim Arena just wasn’t enough against a powerful team like Real Madrid. The Blancos won 87:76, sealed the quarterfinal series at 3:0, and will move on to the final four in Belgrade.

The atmosphere in the Tel-Aviv gym was electric. Ten thousand yellow fans did all they could to push the players, but the visitors dominated from beginning to end, and the Israeli champs couldn’t catch them. Scottie Wilbekin led Maccabi’s scorers with 22 points.

On Sunday, the focus will shift to the domestic front. Maccabi will face Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli Clasico, which would also be a fight for the first place in Winner’s league.
