Coach Sfairopoulos’ squad controlled the game vs Bayern from the get go as they secured their first home win of the season. Tarik, Scottie, Roll and Tyus scored in double digits
With Every game being a must win Maccabi FOX Tel faced Bayern Munich knowing that there is no tomorrow. Coach Sfairopoulos’ squad fired on all cylinders from the get go enroute of 47:29 lead at halftime, the visitors managed to trim Maccabi’s lead in the third quarter but Maccabi kept their composure enroute of an impressive 95:71 home win.
Coach Sfairopoulos starting five: Black, O’Bryant, Caloiaro, Kane and Wilbekin. Scottie was the first to score in the game as Maccabi took the early 5:0 lead. Tarik and Angelo increased the yellows’ lead to 10:2, Radosevic reacted for Bayern but Ray and Tarik kept the visitors at bay (16:8). Ray’s three point play put Maccabi ahead in double digits (19:8) but Koponen and Williams scored to make it 23:15. Roll and Johnny increased Maccabi’s lead but Maodo Lo was the last to score in the first quarter with the squad in yellow and blue having the 27:17 lead.
Tyus and Johnny scored at the beginning of the second quarter to make it 31:17, Coach Sfairopoulos’ squad kept imposing their will as the scoreboard showed 39:22. The squad in yellow and blue hustled on both ends of the floor enroute of a 43:24 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the first half. Bayern made another attempt at a comeback but a resilient Maccabi reacted time and again having the 47:29 lead.
Barthel scored at the beginning of the third quarter but Scottie and Johnny kept Maccabi ahead 51:33, Kane and Williams traded blows from deep as Bayern managed to trim Maccabi’s lead to 54:40. Scottie and Johnny scored back to back threes to make it 60:42. Bayern completed a 10:3 run forcing coach Sfairopoulos to call for a timeout (63:52). Caloiaro made both of his free throws but Bayern had the final say in the quarter as they trail 67:55.
Maccabi started the fourth quarter blazing as they increased their lead to 71:55, Bayern tried to reacted but Zoosman came up big with five points to make it 76:57. Caloiaro and Zoosman scored, Bayern reacted with back to back trying to trim Maccabi’s lead but Tyus and Roll made it 86:66 as the squad in yellow and blue secured the 95:71 home win.
