Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv has flown to Belgium to take part in a training camp and two scrimmages. From there they will fly to Moscow for the prestigious Gomelsky Tournament.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv has ramped up their preseason preparations, heading to Belgium for a training camp. The team will play two scrimmages there, on the 22nd against Antwerp (19:00 local time) and on the 24th against Charleroi (20:30 local time).
From Belgium the team will fly to Moscow, where they will participate in the prestigious Gomelsky Tournament where they will face Euroleague first round rivals Lokomotiv Kuban in the semifinals on the 28th (17:00 local time), and either CSKA Moscow or Panathinaikos Athens (another Euroleague first round competitor) based on the results of the semifinal round, the day after (17:00 or 20:00 local time).
Ricky Hickman, who is starting his second season with the club, said, “I’m excited. We’re all looking forward to going to training camp against challenging Euroleague teams. It’s like a test, to see what kind of shape we’re in physically, and to get ready for the coming season. The atmosphere is great, the new players are very good and I believe if we keep working, and keep building the chemistry among the players, this could be a really special team. The guys are hungry for success. Vujčić? That guy can still play. The truth is, it’s fun to work out with him, and there’s no doubt there’s a lot we can learn from him.”
Maccabi veteran Devin Smith added: “It’s good to be back, and to have the whole team practicing together. We’re trying to come together as a team, the training camp will definitely help with that, and hopefully we’ll come back from that as a single unit. There’s a good feeling, everyone really wants to work hard in practice, and we’ve got a good team. Everyone has the same goal – to work together and do the best we can, and so far everyone is working like they should. It’s fun to be a part of that.”
