Forward David Blu, who will be evaluated by Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv in the coming weeks, underwent a fitness test today (Sunday) at the Medix Institute at Hadar Yosef under the watchful eyes of fitness coach Avi Kowalski and his assistant Regev Fanan.  Later he was given a physical by team physician Dr. Guy Morag, and is expected to take part in his first practice with the 2013-14 model of the team this evening.

“The test results show that I am in pretty good shape,” said Blu. “It’s necessary, and it’s  nice for me to know where I stand. The most important thing was to see that I passed the tests, and now I need to get out on the court tonight at practice and see how I fit in. With all due respect for this fitness exam, the real test will be to play strong defense, to make shots, and to take rebounds.” When asked about the reaction he has gotten to his return, Blu said, “Everyone in Maccabi supports me. I played here for six years and everyone is behind me – the fans, the management, and the professional staff.”

“The other players don’t need to worry, because they will be my teammates and will benefit if I am in good shape and can contribute to the team. As far as other teams go, the Euroleague and the Israeli League are tough leagues, and I hope to be at my best.” When asked if he had spoken yet to David Blatt, head coach of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, Blu replied, “We spoke for the first time this morning, before the fitness test. He welcomed me, wished me luck, and we’ll probably sit and talk before tonight’s practice.”
