Domino’s Pizza, one of the sponsors of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, held a special get-together for players and fans yesterday at their Yigal Alon Street branch in Tel Aviv. About fifteen fans, who had registered for the event on Domino’s Facebook page, got the chance to observe Maccabi’s ball-handling skills – balls of dough and mozzarella cheese, that is.

The players and fans went behind the counter to create their own pizzas. They players also signed autographs and posed for pictures with the fans.

Maccabi’s head coach David Blatt said of the event: “Pizza isn’t necessarily fattening. You don’t have to eat four pizzas at a time. I don’t recommend that you eat pizza three times a day, or a whole pizza in one sitting, but I grew up in Boston which is a real pizza city, and I love it.”

About the team’s preparations for the upcoming Euroleague game against Real Madrid, the coach said: “We’ve had a great day of practices with our focus entirely on Real. We’re coming into this game with the mind-set that we have to win; it doesn’t matter if it’s against Real Madrid or any other team. We’re going to give everything we have, first of all to win a game that is very important to us, but also to get back to playing like we usually do.”

Team manager Nikola Vuj?i? added: “Everyone loves pizza. We came to be with our fans and our sponsors, it’s a great event.”
