Letter from Shimon Mizrahi, chairman of Maccabi Tel Aviv, to the team’s fans:

“Last night, our European season came to an end in a game against Fenerbahce Ulker of Istanbul, who defeated us in the third game [of the quarterfinal series] by a single point, in overtime.

Although this season we will not be appearing in the Final Four in Madrid and we will be forced to part with the title of Euroleague Champions, the way in which we acquired our trophy last May in Milan will always be remembered as an unforgettable experience. Despite the loss last night, I am proud to say that our team, Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, revealed a desire to win and the players, each and every one, gave their all to achieve a victory that would have brought us to a Game 4 in Menora Mivtachim Arena, and what a shame that it slipped away from us at the last second.

I, and all of the members of the club, are proud to have such devoted fans, who filled the arena for every Euroleague game this season and saw such great victories as the ones over Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Panathinaikos. During our game last night, you showed that you are the finest and most loyal fans on the continent.

This feeling will be with us as we move forward, and we will be confident knowing that behind us stands a solid wall of faithful fans who will be with us every step of the way.

We still have an important task ahead of us this season, to win the Israeli Championship. This battle will continue until nearly the end of June, while at the same time we will be turning our efforts towards building a team for next season.

Please accept our profound thanks. We hope to see you at every Israeli League game until the end of the season.

Best wishes for a happy Independence Day.

Be blessed.”
