Members of Maccabist – the official fan club of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv – enjoyed a special event yesterday (Sunday) at Menora Mivtachim Arena, playing the part of reporters at a private press conference featuring Yogev Ohayon and Itay Segev. During the event, which was attended by the Maccabist members who won the contest held on our official Facebook page, the players were asked many interesting questions, about both the team and about themselves.
“Since the moment Zan arrived, we’ve been working hard together on my abilities near the basket and on finishing, and I think I’ve improved a lot,” said Segev who in recent months has made huge advances. When asked what he wants to improve on in the future, the young forward stated, “I really hope and believe I’ll be able to improve my outside shooting, starting with mid-range in the hopes of also developing my skills from outside the arc. Those are my goals.” Asked which Israeli League player outside of Maccabi he respects the most, Segev responded, “Personally, I really like the way Lior Eliyahu plays. He’s an excellent player, and it’s very interesting to play against him.”
Yogev Ohayon, currently in his fifth season with Maccabi, was asked which Maccabi team since his arrival was the strongest and most talented. “There’s no doubt that the greatest season was the one in which we took the triple. That was an amazing experience,” answered Ohayon. “Although, my first season with all its growing pains, was also a good one for me. I really absorbed all of the tradition that is Maccabi.” The guard was also asked who he felt were the most difficult players to play defense on, and he replied, “It was very tough to guard against Jeremy Pargo and Tyrese Rice. There were a lot of bruises in practice, but in a positive way, of course.”
The topic on which the two players disagreed was which was the most difficult moment this year for them, personally. Ohayon named the elimination from the Euroleague, while Segev stated that it was the elimination from the Eurocup that marked the lowest point of the season for him. “We’ve had a lot of conversations amongst ourselves (the players) this season,” Ohayon summed up, with an eye to the future. “We told ourselves that at the toughest moments, we stayed a family. I promise you, there are still good things yet to come this season.”
