Maccabi Tel Aviv strengthened its backcourt by inking shooting guard Michael Roll, who signed a one-year deal with the Israeli powerhouse with an option for another season
Roll (30, 1.98) is a tough swingman who can play both the SG and the SF position who’s known for his high basketball IQ and can contribute in various aspects as he’s a team player who likes to make the players next to him better, he’s also a great distributor that can spread the floor with his great shooting abilities from distance.

He finished his senior year with the Bruins (2010) as the team’s top scorer averaging 14.1 points and was selected for the All-conference team. Michael is also the record holder for most games played at UCLA (147).His first professional experience was in 2011 while playing for Turkish side Bornova, then he moved to Belgium where he played for Antwerp Giants. In 2013 he signed with CAI Zaragoza which he led to the ACB semifinals while averaging 11.8P and 3R, the following season he played in the Eurocup for Zaragoza while averaging 9.8P
,.Michael spent most of his three last seasons playing in Turkey, first for Ankara, then he moved to Büyükçekmece where he averaged 16.5P, 4.7A, 4.7R while shooting 45.5% from the distance, he was also selected to play in the Turkish All-star game. He finished the season (2016) in Baskonia as he signed there for the Liga Endesa playoffs.
Roll who holds a Tunisian citizenship won the bronze medal in the 2015 Africa Championship while being selected to the tournament’s All-Second team. In 2017 he played a key part in Besiktas amazing run in the Turkish BSL who came to an end in the finals where Besiktas lost to the Euroleague reigning champs Fenerbache, Michael averaged 11.2P 4.6A in the Turkish BSL this year while putting even better numbers in the FIBA BCL where he averaged 11.8P, 4.7A as he also shot 42.9% from deep.
