Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv added another weapon to its backcourt by signing DeAndre Kane. The deal is for one season with an option for a second
Kane (1.96, 28) is a tough and physical defensive oriented combo guard who loves to play hard at both ends of the court. He is an all-around player who can contribute in various aspects- he can penetrate, shoot as well as being an ace rebounder and a distributor.
DeAndre grew up in Pittsburgh where he played college ball for Marshal University (2010-2013) in 2014 he moved to Iowa State where he had a standout season averaging 17P, 6.8R and 5.9A as he was selected to the NCAA 3rd quintet.
After participating in the 2014 summer league for the Los Angeles Lakers, he then signed his first professional contract with Krasny Oktybar (red November) of the VTB league, not long after joining the Russian club he left and then signed with Antwerp from Belgium where he averaged 14.4P, 7.4R and 5.5A in the EuroChallenge, while averaging 12.1P, 5.8R and 3.1A in the domestic league.
In the summer of
2015 he signed with German side Ratiopharm Ulm where he averaged 10P, 5R and 2.9A in the EuroCup. In January 2016 he moved to Hapoel Eilat where he for 19 games with the team from the south averaging 11.5P, 5.1R and 2.7A.Kane opened the 2016-17 season with Nizhny Novgorod of the VTB where he averaged 16.8P, 7.6R and 2.2A in the EuroCup, he then moved to Real Betis of the ACB (Liga Endesa) where he averaged 9P, 7.2R and 2.2A.
Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Neven Spahija added: “Deandre is an excellent defensive player as well as very tough and competitive who knows the Israeli league very well”. Kane got his Hungarian citizenship and he is included in the national team’s preliminary squad.
