The yellows finished the first round in the EuroLeague with an 89:78 loss to Unicaja Malaga and will now try to improve their position in the standings on Friday at Madrid, but before back to back derbies on Sunday (Israeli Cup – away game) and Tuesday (league home game).

Coach Spahija: “Malaga was better. They were focused for 40 minutes and they knew exactly what they needed to do, our preparation didn’t work at all, they had 16 offensive rebounds. We couldn’t score in the third quarter it was difficult to watch. Our starting five finished the game with a big minus rating, which means that the rest of the players did a better job. We need our starters, our best players on the team and they didn’t show up. It happens and it’s a long season there are a lot of games left to play, home and away. Our biggest problem is continuity and mentality”.

Coach added: “honestly our second unit were much better, the responsibility is on us, I will analyze what I did wrong. In this level you need to be tough from the beginning in every game. Even when we were leading I was not happy with the situations, we realized something was wrong. With all of our talent, I understand that after a big win you don’t play in the same level. Eventually we have more wins than loses. It’s not easy to solve all the problems within half a season, but if someone would have told us at the beginning of the season we would take it, with that being said I think we could have finished the round with one or two more wins”.

Norris Cole: “We started slow the second half and gave up a lot of rebounds on defense. We couldn’t execute on offense and on defense, I don’t think we were too relaxed, they played better than us and we did some mistakes that we shouldn’t have done. Some of the blame is on me, but it’s a part of the season. They ran in the third quarter and we were unable to stop them”.
