With their backs up against the wall the yellows know that in order to have a shot at the playoffs there’s no other scenario than winning the game. Neven Spahija’s squad opened the game posed as they managed to impose their will from the tipoff taking the early lead. The locals took control over the game as they led in double digits during the second quarter and also in the third however the yellows managed to comeback, , the locals made a last run in the fourth from which couldn’t recover.

“I would like to congratulate Baskonia for the win and for mathematically qualifying to the playoffs”, said coach Spahija. “I think that, overall, we played a pretty solid game. We put them in trouble, but to win here against Baskonia, you have to play better basketball. We have to make shots and we missed a lot. We missed many open shots, free throws and if you want to play at this level, to win the game, you simply have to do better, and we didn’t do that tonight. We prepared the game well, but like I said, if you want to beat this team, one of the best in Europe, you need to score a bit more”.

“Overall we fought”, said DeShaun Thomas. “it was the little things, the turnovers that gave them points because we felt like they couldn’t score against us in half-court, but those little things that we had to control and they capitalized on”.

“We fought really hard and we kept battling to get really close”, said Michael Roll. “We had a couple of key turnovers that led to easy baskets for them and I think that was the difference in the game, otherwise we were playing good basketball on half court but we allowed them too many easy points”.
