“We played good defensively but just missed so many open shots”

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv continued its preseason journey against the EuroLeague runner ups Fenerbache. The game started with both teams struggling to score, Fener took the halftime lead, Maccabi bounced back in the third and even had the lead in the fourth but Fenerbache kept their composure as they secured the 60:65 W over Maccabi. The yellows will play their final game in the Zadar tournament on Sunday.

“We played good defensively but just missed so many open shots”, said coach Neven Spahija. “We didn’t use our bonus situation like we were supposed to, I think in the second quarter we sent them 15 times to the free throw line, but like I said this is preseason we have to learn about each other and especially how to involve the new players into the system, tomorrow we’re going to play with Jeremy and Tarik and hope that with our talent we’re going to grow everyday”.

“It’s another close game, we didn’t finish off, got to execute got to be more focused”, said Johnny O’Bryant, who finished the game with a double double of 15P & 10R. “You see that in the last minutes it’s close so we got to do a better job at finishing it off. Overall it’s the preseason guys are still learning each other and we’re still learning defensive schemes so I think overall we are improving game to game and it’s just the little things we got to get better”.
