Coach after the 100:64 win over Liaoning: “I hope that we’ll have our roster as soon as possible”. Black: “We have things we definitely have to work on but we’re getting there”
The squad in yellow and blue will start preparing for Giannakopoulos tournament, where they will face EuroLeague runner-ups Fenerbache on Thursday the 27th (18:30 local).
“One more time in the tournament we shared a lot of players on the court”, said coach neven Spahija after the 100:64 win over Liaoning. “Sharing those minutes was the most important thing than anything else and I think that after this tournament I can say that we saw a lot of good and bad things and we know what to work on; I think that the next tournament is going to be another step, I hope that the injuries we have now are not serious and that we’ll have our roster as soon as possible”.
“It felt really good out there”, said Tarik Black, who played his first minutes with the yellow and blue. “It was fun getting out there with the guys, we’ve been working so hard leading up to this point that this is the prize, we get to go and play basketball, we get to go win games and we won that one really well”.
“We have things we definitely have to work on, but we’re getting there and it’s a process for us”, added the center. “we’re just getting together, so we’re putting the pieces together it’s like a puzzle, but we have a lot of talent and it was really exciting to get on the floor with the guys and I’m excited about the season”.
When asked about the upcoming season Black said: “It’s going to be a really exciting team, we have athleticism, we have shooters, we have great players, great one on one players, we got great team basketball so it’s going to be really interesting seeing us play, and with that athleticism we’re able to trap guys and get around on the floor, you might see a lot of fast break points which will lead to dunks and some amazing plays”.
