Maccabi’s head coach Neven Spahija after the overtime 92:94 loss to Fener: “I think we have to be smarter, but in the end the preseason is about learning how to play”. Ray: “A lot of plays got away from us, we gotta get better from this”
“I think we played one more good game”, said Coach Neven Spahija. “A solid preseason game, this time without (I.e. the injured) players in the roster but it looks like it’s going to take time to put all the pieces together, I think we have to be smarter, but in the end the preseason is about learning how to play and I think that compared to the last tournament in Zadar we did one step forward specially because it was the second game that Jeremy and Tarik played for us”, coach Spahija concluded.
When asked about the tournament and the late Mr. Pavlos Giannakopoulos coach Spahija replied: “This is a big honor for Maccabi, especially for me, I knew Mr. Giannakopoulos for 20 years and I’m so happy that I got the chance to appreciate him for everything he did for the basketball family and not just for Panathinaikos”.
“Tough game for us”, said Maccabi’s guard Kendrick Ray. “A lot of plays got away from us, we gotta get better from this, just got to come out and execute more and get better at the little things then we’re going to come out next time with the win”.
When asked about the good thing to take from this game Ray replied: “We got a lot of open shots today, a lot of drives and kicks today our shots wasn’t falling but eventually the will”. About his overtime buzzer beater Ray added: “I just threw it up, hooped it and it went in”.
