Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv officially started its 2018/19 season against Ashdod at the Menorah. Neven Spahija’s squad took the double digit lead at halftime and never looked back as they took the 103:59 win over Ashdod.  The yellows will now focus on their next game against Panathinaikos on Thursday (Sport5, 21:00 local).

“I think that this game did not help us”, said coach Spahija. “They played for three quarters and gave up when we were up by 20, they were missing a lot of players. I apologize to coach Greenberg. In the last few days we tried to do things in practice that will help us”.

“Ashdod were missing a lot of players”, said Yovel Zoosman, who finished the game with 14P, 3S and 2A. “We wanted to focus on ourselves, we didn’t play good in the first half but we got better in the second and kept it going until the end. I want to prove to everyone but mostly to myself that I can play in these levels, I come to practices an hour before and stay after everyone – that’s the only way to succeed”.

“We knew that Ashdod will be aggressive”, said John DiBartolomeo, who finished the game with 18 points. “We got to give them credit for the fight they have put in. we knew that they were missing players. We had a tough preseason and this game was a good preparation for our next game”.
