Coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the 85:76 away win in the derby: “We were the best team on the court”. Michael Roll: “We gotta be better”
“I want to congratulate our players because we won this game”, said coach Giannis Sfairopoulos. “As long as we played basketball we showed that we were the best team on the court, we played good defensively and offensively. We kept them on low score in their home court; we were always up after the first quarter and then till the last moment we had a lead of 13 points but after that the game wasn’t basketball it was wrestling, so with wrestling we went to overtime but then we showed character and we showed we start to play basketball during the timeout we concentrated and we stayed focused, we continued to play basketball and we won the game”.
“Today we saw some incidents that they are not good for basketball”, coach Giannis added. “When a player goes to pick up the ball, they spit on him and on his body all over him and they slap our physiotherapist behind the bench, so this is not good for basketball”.
“We won this game twice”, said Michael Roll. “In overtime we got some defensive stops, making key plays when they were rotating. It’s on us for messing up for sure, me a couple of other guys. We know we gotta be better, we’re going to learn from it but to have that happen with this place going crazy like that and then come out and silence them in overtime- that’s big. We just try to win every game, when we do that our talent shows on the court. We played great basketball out there, great game for us, when there’s some certain circumstances “.
