Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv beat Gilboa/Galil 112:110 in double OT, as coach Giannis Sfairopoulos praised his players for their performance: “I’m proud of the way they played, and for that, I want to congratulate them”
6 Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv players, with the help of Dori Sahar, fought for 50 minutes (Double overtime) on its way to a 112:100 road victory over Galil/Gilboa. Jake Cohen played over 47 minutes, Scottie Wilbekin 45, Quincy Acy, and Yovel Zoosman beyond 43 minutes.
“With the heart of the players, that’s how we won tonight”, Said coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the effort his players showed tonight. “The players win the game, they fought on the court, and that wasn’t easy. I’m proud of the way they played, and for that, I want to congratulate them. Their big hearts didn’t give up, and I think we played good today”.
Othello Hunter and Tyler Dorsey, who felt ill, stayed home and didn’t make the travel to Gan Ner. They joined the injured Omri Casspi, Tarik Black, John DiBartolomeo, and Nate Wolters as well as Angelo Caloiaro and Sandy Cohen, who aren’t registered to Israeli league games. “To play a game like this with such a short roster, the six players fatigue just grows for these six players”, mentioned Sfairopoulos.
Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv will depart on Wednesday to face Anadolu Efes, one of the top-ranked EuroLeague teams. It will be closing a full circle for coach Giannis Sfairopoulos, as his first game as a Yellow & Blue coach came against the Turkish squad from Istanbul.
