Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv completed a series of four wins in a week with a suffocating 105:77 victory over Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion. The Yellow & Blue averaged blowouts of 26.2 points per win, but now they shift their focus to the State Cup Semi-Finals as they’re set to face Hapoel Holon.
The Israeli champions maintained their first position in the Israeli Winner League with ten wins and two losses. Yovel Zoosman delivered his best offensive showing this season, scoring 17 points (hitting all four shots from three), dishing five assists, and grabbing four rebounds.
Five additional players scored in double digits, Scottie Wilbekin 16 points (4/5 from 3P), Ante Zizic 12 points & seven rebounds, Dragan Bender 12 points & 6 rebounds, John DiBartolomeo 12 points, and Elijah Bryant concludes the list with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
“Once again, we were really concentrated and followed the plan playing good defense. Everybody is enjoying the game on both ends of the court, and we are playing as a team”, Said head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos about what he observed from the dominant performance. “For us, it was important that all of the players performed as planned and did the things we practiced in the games. We need to improve and learn from every contest, no matter how much the difference is”.
“I think we did a good job scoring 105 points while allowing 77, which is more than what we want, but we won, and that’s what’s important”, Said Yovel Zoosman after the convincing win. “We never thought about Thursday’s Cup game, we approach each game separately. After the Gilboa loss, we wanted to show what we are worth. Everyone is having a good time, and we are filled with energy. We are opening the games strong, moving the ball properly, and defending well, which makes the games much easier for us”.
