Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv visited the Western Wall, and Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Center. Hilliard: “The emotions overwhelm you. I am grateful for this visit”
“It is very important for us to explain to the players, especially the foreign players, about Israel,” said Udi Recanati, one of the club’s owners. “In my opinion, traveling in Jerusalem is one of the most important experiences to help them understand where they are.”
“The emotions overwhelm you, it’s unimaginable to see something like this,” said Darren Hilliard after the visit to Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial center. “People come from all over the world to be in this museum and it is a very educational experience.”
“It shows how much more we have to learn, what way we have to go as people to get closer to each other”, added Maccabi’s summer signing. “I learned this today through the museum and I am grateful for this visit.”
“After the visit to Yad Vashem, many things get a different meaning,” Maccabi’s coach, Oded Kattash, agreed. “You can see on the players’ faces that they understand the importance of this day. Some things are more important than another practice or game.”
“It was an important day that will create life memories”, concluded Shimon Mizrahi, chairman of the club. “The players learned what the State of Israel is and the meaning of Jerusalem being its capital. Congratulations on the decision to take this trip.”
