The added players, products of the club’s renowned youth department, complete Oded Katash’s roster for the season
Oren Sahar (1.94 m, 18) already practiced last season with Maccabi’s senior team, while simultaneously playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv-Shoham in the 3rd division. He was promoted to Oded Kattash’s roster after completing his path in the youth department and was one of the standout players on the club’s U-19 Elite team.
He is a guard known for his shooting ability and brings energy, talent, and boldness to the court. He made his senior Premier League debut last season in an away game against Hapoel Galil Elyon. During the last summer he scored 17.7 ppg in U19 World Championship.
Sahar comes from a true Maccabi family — his two brothers and sister also played in yellow-and-blue. One of them, Dori Sahar, another product of the youth system, played three seasons with the senior team and will join Elitzur Netanya this coming season.
Tamir Gold (2.04 m, 18) is a member of Israel’s U-18 national team, a tall and talented forward who showed strong numbers last season. In the U-19 South Division, he averaged 13.2 points, shot 61% from two-point range, 43.8% from beyond the arc, grabbed 6.2 rebounds, and posted a 15.6 efficiency rating in 23 minutes per game.
In the upper playoff group, he contributed 11.2 points, 61.8% from two-point range, 6.4 rebounds, one steal, and a 14.2 efficiency rating in just 15.8 minutes on average. He also scored in double figures in the playoffs and was a key factor in winning the Youth State Cup. Tamir is the son of Shiri Gold, a former basketball player and currently the head of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s girls’ and women’s department.
