It was love at first sight, just like in the stories. And now it is time for that love to continue into its next chapter. Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv has signed Bonzie Colson for the next two years, as he returns to the club after a spell in which he won the EuroLeague with Fenerbahce.

The outstanding forward, who became one of the most beloved, successful and energetic players at the Arena, played for Maccabi for two seasons, during which the club won two championships and the State Cup, and twice came within just a few minutes of reaching the EuroLeague Final Four.

“I’m incredibly happy and grateful to be reunited with my Maccabi family,” Bonzie Colson told the official website. “From the moment I left, I always had a special place in my heart for this club, the fans and the city of Tel Aviv. I want to thank the owners, management and coaching staff for believing in me and making this return possible. I’m excited and ready to get to work and create more special memories together. See you all soon.”

“I’m very happy that Bonzie is coming back home to us,” said head coach Oded Kattash after the contract was signed. “We all love him, we know his professional abilities, his energy and his connection to the club. This is a welcome full-circle moment for him and for us.”

Bonzie Colson (1.98m, 30) grew up in the northeastern United States, played four years at the University of Notre Dame and arrived in Europe in 2019. After spells in France and Turkey, he signed with Maccabi in the summer of 2022 and became a significant part of Oded Kattash’s new machine, which returned to competing at the highest level in Europe.

Colson fit perfectly into Maccabi’s style of play, starring mainly at the 3 position while also providing an excellent option at the 2 and 4 when needed. He brings high energy, good shooting from all ranges, the ability to create his own shot, an excellent post-up game, a very positive presence in the locker room and, of course, a tremendous connection with the Maccabi fans and the values of the club.

In his second season with Maccabi, Bonzie Colson contributed 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in the EuroLeague, along with 11.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in the regular season in the Israeli league, and 13.8 points with 6.2 rebounds in the domestic playoffs.

In the summer of 2024, Colson moved to Fenerbahce and helped the team win the EuroLeague, two championships, two cups and the Turkish Super Cup. Last season, he played around 17 minutes per game in the EuroLeague and provided 7.1 points, shooting 48.5% from three, and three rebounds as part of the star-studded roster available to Saras.
